Around here Halloween isn't just a day long event. It is a month long event. It seems like we've been getting ready for the big day for days and days. Here is just a glimpse of some of the things we've been doing to get into the Halloween spirit. Get ready, it is a very long post.
This year Ethan is Jake from The Neverland Pirates. He loves pirates and Jake is his favorite. Taylor is a peacock. She picked out a Merida costume and had wanted to be "The Brave Girl" forever, but when she saw me making my costume she changed her mind. Luckily, I had bought too much material so I had plenty to make her costume too.
Every year Greg and I go to an adult Halloween Party hosted by our friends The Langs. I was a peacock and Greg was a twister board. Greg will not be wearing this costume to work on Halloween!
We went to the Springs Preserve for their Haunted Harvest. The kids played carnival games, went in a haunted house (not a scary one), and went trick or treating around the preserve.
Our community does a Halloween Festival every year. They moved it to the big park down the street this year since it is getting so popular. We loved it since now we can walk to it! Jeff, Kate, Abby, and baby Claire joined us.
I found these Mr. Potato Head kits at Target last year and we didn't have time to use them. They are awesome!!!! They can rearrange the pieces in the pumpkins. So fun.
The Nevada State Railroad Museum is always so nice to offer free rides on Halloween weekend if you're in your costume. Ethan is still in his choo choo phase and we just increased it 10 fold by going on the Halloween Train on Sunday. He has been building trains out of boxes for the past 3 days. He uses his tricycle as the engine. This year we had the whole Jacobs Clan with us. The kids Great-Grandparents were even able to make it. Ethan was really excited to meet the conductor. He has been talking about his hat non-stop.
Our playgroup does a Halloween Party at the park every year. We play games, have a potluck lunch, and then trick or treat to everyone's picnic blankets for candy.
Carving pumpkins is always so much fun? It is kind of like decorating cookies. The first one is great, but after 5 minutes you just start just trying to get done. We had fun with the kids though. We hammered cookie cutters into the pumpkins to make fun cut outs. The kids loved the hammering part!
